Inside all of us is HOPE

Over the course of life, many people enter and exit your world. Some make an everlasting impact and some end up as nightmares. In my life there had been some amazing people whom i have met for a very short period but still are close friends. There is no hiding in saying i wish i would not have met some. Some short stints taught me how to enjoy every moment, how to dance, how to manage things and how to avoid being in difficult situations.

The human brain is something very interesting. It remembers a random event happened long ago in childhood which carries no significance, but forgets to remind us of similar mistakes we have done in the past. I accept the fact some mistakes are done consciously, due to various reasons, but i always feel they could have been avoided with more maturity. After the damage is done, we tend to realise that life is all about leaving those moments behind, take lessons from it and move on.
My experience says you will definitely meet an influential person or an old friend to bring back you to normalcy. All you need to realize is the right moment to move on, procrastination doesn't help.

I have my own share of priceless moments and thinking of it makes me smile. My stay @IIITB will stay forever as a golden period in my life. The friendships made, the endless banter, silly fights, sleepless nights, boring lectures all these are priceless. Given a chance to roll back my life i would always say "yes" for these 2 years. Staying away from home for the first time it was my own independent world and i enjoyed it much more than what i expected. All credit goes to my fellow iiit-b'ians. We rocked "big" time.

I took a leaf out of my "happy" pages and decided to leave things that went bad, all in hope of a better tomorrow.

A memoir straight from my heart

On a lazy Saturday evening, i woke up at 6 with a mild head-ache. As usual i got ready to have some tea at the nearby shop. A few sips later, my brain started working and senses started to return. I was enjoying my tea and looking at the other customers in the shop.

There was a cute little kid with a bunch of family members having their evening snacks next to me. As they were speaking in my mother tongue, telugu, i was able to understand what they were talking about. I was somehow genuinely interested in the little one. she has been running here and there and after a while she whispered something in her mom's ear. She replied "Not now!!!" and the little one started crying. Now, i understood she wanted to have some candy. She was waiting for her dad who was busy collecting the food for the family from the counter. The moment she found her dad she asked the same. Dad made a "what to do?" kind of sign towards mom. She smiled and the candies were up for grabs. The happiness on the little ones face was widely visible and so are her parents'. This changed my sleepy mood and i too was all smiles.

I came back home from the shop only to find the electricity was off. I switched on to my favorite past time, terrace and ipod. Somehow, the thoughts of the little girl were still ringing in my mind and i started recollecting my childhood days. I spent my childhood in the streets of Railway Colony at Visakhapatnam. After returning from school i played cricket for an hour or so in the ground next to our house and my dad used to silently watch me. After the game, i always used to come to my dad who used to sit on a stage built for poojas during Vinayaka chavithi and dasara , which was also our third man boundary. I used to sit and hover around and he would understand that i wanted something. Well, most of the time, it was pretty obvious, a 50 paise Eclairs or 25 paise Bigfun and as deal to not let mom know of it. I loved eclairs a lot. For people who never knew Big Fun, it is a chewing gum which comes with a small score card kind of wrapper to it with cricketers' pics. I used to take Big Fun just for those wrappers. On the days when the results of examinations were out, i had the privilege of buying a 5star chocolate worth Rs.5, provided i stood among the top three of my class. Remembering these moments i have had a nice evening break.

Soon the electricity came and i was back to reality. Now, i don't like chocolates any more, though, i can buy the costlier ones and most important of all, i miss my dad.

On a personal note, i would like to thank each one of my friends who persuaded me to start blogging again. I owe you people a lot.

Creativity lives on

After a very long time i am back. Let me get you straight into the post without much banter.

These are generally the days of email forwarding . If you get a mail you'll send it to your friends and in turn they'll . In this fashion sometimes , or maybe many times , you bump into reading the same email again. I even find out myself somewhere down the Fwd:fwd:fwd:.... series .

This post is about such an email fwd. There is an email which i got it from a dear friend of mine which i would like to mention it hear and there is a very high chance you had already been through it. Sorry guys, can't help.

Hey, forgot to tell you people there is something more interesting after reading the email and that is where you'll find the crux of this post. Enjoy reading the email.

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his
5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: "Daddy, may I ask you a question?"

DAD: "Yeah sure, what is it?" replied the man.

SON: "Daddy, how much do you make an hour?"

DAD: "That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?"
the man said
angrily.

SON: "I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an
hour?"

DAD: "If you must know, I make Rs.100 an hour."

SON: "Oh," the little boy replied, with his head down.

SON: "Daddy, may I please borrow Rs.50?

The father was furious, "If the only reason you asked that is so you
can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then
you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about
why you are being so selfish.. I work hard everyday for such this
childish behavior."

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and
started to get even angrier about the little
boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some
money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to
think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that
Rs..50 and he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to
the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.
"Are you asleep, son?" He asked.

"No daddy, I'm awake," replied the boy.

"I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier" said the
man.

"It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the
Rs.50 you asked for.

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. "Oh, thank you daddy!" he yelled.

Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.
The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry
again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up
at his father.

"Why do you want more money if you already have some?" the father

"Because I didn't have enough, but now I do," the little boy replied.

"Daddy, I have Rs.100 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?

Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with
you."

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he
begged for his forgiveness.

It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We
should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some
time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. : red;">

Do remember to share that Rs.100 worth of your time with someone you
love.

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily
replace us in a matter of days.

But the family friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the
rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more
into work than to our family.

---- Email ends here ---------

For people who skimmed through the email recollecting, now stop thinking and start reading from here.

Generally the first few lines itself is enough to tell you that you had read it already. Don't worry it might take a few more lines for nuts like me . Once you recollect you had read this we have two options . You can either delete it or forward it to friends . I generally prefer the second option since it helps in two ways. Your friend is going to read it if he didn't do it earlier. There is an equal chance he might too get pissed off and choose the same path as mine.

But a very dear friend of mine, a creative genius , thought the other way. He took his time and extended the story in the email.

Read the extended story here.

After dinner, father starts thinking about his son’s education. He asks his son if he could write a program to reverse the linked list.

The child answers “NO” and his father beats his ass off.

The child repents asking his father to come early and repents even more for loosing Rs.100 with which he would have bought some candies for himself and his girlfriends.

The child realizes the mistake and everyone lived happily ever after.

This was really amazing stuff . I actually liked the original e-mail and even thanked my friend for it for sharing it . I generally tend to thank my friends for sharing some really good ones . The extension was much much fun. I was not able to stop laughing reading it. I went on to send the original and extension e-mails to some of my friends. Somehow, today i thought of sharing this whole episode with all you guys who will be reading this .

It's a Girl's World!!

If he is late for class, he told,
"Time and Tide wait for none".
If she is late, then the bus was late.

If a girl is dressed as a boy, she is modern, says the world.
But if a boy is dressed as a girl, "Has he escaped from the Zoo?"

If a boy talks with a girl, "I think he is trying for her"
But if a girl talks with a boy, then she is trying to be friendly.

When a girl cries, the world is convinced of her
But when a boy cries, "Come on man! Don't be a girl".

If a girl meets with an accident, then it's the mistake of others.
And if a boy meets with an accident, "I think you should learn to drive".

If a boy sits in front of a city bus, he is mannerless and cultureless brute.
But if a girl sits in the back seat, "Try to respect ladies, man!".

If a boy gets a big rank in an entrance exam, "You've to work hard".
But if a girl gets a big rank,... still got 33! Reservation.

If there are girls in a class, the professor gives an interesting lecture,
And if there are no girls, he says, there is no class today.

If a girl does not answer during a viva, then atleast 'smile' says the examiner.
But when a boy does not answer,"better luck next time".

Ignorance Stupefied

With holidays commencing from 7th of this month which extends till 12th I thought of going home . With one of my friends , expressing his desire to accompany me to Vizag the stage was set for the journey . I got up early at 7a.m to rush to the reservation complex inspite of sleeping very late at 4 a.m. The previous night , the very much expected Brazil Vs France match ended in a jeopardy ( for Brazil fans ) with France coming up with some stunning performance . Soon after the match we had a discussion , offcouse on that same topic , till 4 a.m .

The cell phone alarm was ringing but i was not at all ready to wake up . I was laying on my bed thinking of awaking but my body was not responding me . Hey , don't get carried away by a similar scene which you might have seen in Gharshana--Telugu ( kaka kaka -- Tamil ) , where our dear own Venky ( Surya in tamil ) is lying on the banks of a river helplessly insearch of his sweetheart . Soon my loving mom n dad flashed by , and it gave me enough strength to rise out of my bed and stop the ringing alarm . I went to my friend to wake him up . I got ready in 10 minutes or so and again went to him and started our journey .

We reached early at the counter ( before 8 a.m and the reservation starts at 8 a.m ) and hence had to wait . As there was no one at the counter we were the first and last . Then starts my trouble and the clerk says in an authoritative voice " you are the first customer and I don't have the change to give you " . Adding to my misery, no fellow came for reservation till 20 minutes from then , though there was one he didn't had the change nor the train accomodation . As it was very early in the morning , no shop was opened . I stopped each and every one passing by the road for change , but my efforts ended in vain . I had to walk all the way back towards a hotel ( nearby from hostel ) . The obvious answer from the hotel fellow would be a "NO" , expected it from past experiences , and hence took a token for breakfast which could tender the exact change and walked back to the reservation counter , adding an extra walk of 20 minutes . Got the ticket by giving him ( the clerk ) the change and again walked back 20 minutes back to the college .I don't curse anybody for this , neither the clerk nor the railway authorities for it . I take it on my part the offense of not tendering the exact change .It was "Ignorance Stupefied" on my part .

The issue I would like to discuss is that aren't the railway people aware of the fact that the first few customers to the counter might not have the change to deliver . They can give the booking clerk an initial amount with lower denominations so that the customers need not suffer . With ATM cards around , where in getting a denomination of 50 is not possible and with increased number of people using them the railway authorities need to take a look into such circumstances . And as "Marketing myopia" suggests , this is the problem not with railway ticket booking but many others as well .

Readers please suggest a solution .

Song of the open road

Its been a long time since I posted something in my blog . So its yet another beginning for me too ( most of my friends too had done that ) . Yet another semester passed , with me ending up learning nothing . Thanks for some of the friends who had taken the burden out of me . After a month of struggle during holidays , I returned back hoping to take part in project , but alas ! it didn’t happen . I am really thankful to the long lasting helping hand who was always there when needed . Though the project was a disaster not even a single word was uttered against me ( thanks buddies for your co-operation ) , but I knew I was the culprit . Next came the presentation , but this time it is a success .All the credit goes to other members who put on a lot of effort ( Don’t ask what did I do ??? The best answer is stood for half an hour moving the slides . Once again its others who came for rescue when questions where fired , I was literally dumb ) . “ Dismal “ is the best word to describe my performance . Anyhow , days passed by and everything ended marking the end of second semester .

The only cheer I had was when I came across some of my school friends . Thanks to orkut which made it possible . I was really happy to meet some of my childhood friends , some of whom were known to me even before I entered the school . I am very happy about the fact that each and everyone of them got well settled . Most of the girls left India and even have kids . But inspite of all these , I am really missing her .No one knows anything about her , perhaps , god only knows where she is . Now also I am able to feel her . Those eyes which cheered at my success , those words of wisdom uttered whenever I had done anything wrong , those smiles which made me feel I am the luckiest on this world are still missing . Dude , I really miss u a lot . Hope some in the journey of life , I will meet you sometime or the other .

The other important aspect this summer was the seniors’ placements . Lots of disappointments, lots of surprises , lots of efforts …….. all for the career . Hope so everyone gets the job they wanted . Thought of just refreshing the things from the time I wrote the last post . Next time I should rather come up with some interesting issue . Friends are planning for a tour these days and since the horrible finance classes ended up its “Song of the open road ” this month of july . Enjoy the month buddies , perhaps we might not get a long vacation after this ever in our life .

Readers please comment . No offences meant .
